mailDiary helps you remember what's happened in your life

Welcome to
We help you remember what's happened in your life

Christmas is near and I might have some spare time to polish maildiary a bit. What do you want as an extension or change for maildiary?

Share entries

Until now there was no way to share an entry with some else. This is still the default-behavior! But if you like to share some of your entries with friends and family, you can activate this in your advanced settings. It's called Share single entries via link.

Then you find a "share"-link if you open a day-view of any entry. Clicking on this link opens a selectbox where you choose the expiration of the link. You can create several links with different expiration-dates. To get the link, click on the button "create a link for". Then a textbox appears from which you can copy the link to send it via email or whatever to your friends and family.

The recipient can only see this one entry and nothing more. They will not have any access to your other entries or your saved values.

If you have sent a link to someone and then deactivate the share-feature, noone can use the links any more and all your public links will be deleted. So, if you are not sure what links are out there you can delete all of them by deactivating the feature and activating it again.

Do you use telegram?

Do you use telegram as an messenger? Would you like to write diary-entries directly from within telegram? Telegram has an very good api, with which this task should be very easy.

Older data

Did you use any other (online-)diary before? Maybe or ohlife? Or did you fill a word-file with your memories? Sometimes I get an email, asking how to insert older entries from other platforms into maildiary. If there is any structure given, a small script can help. Maybe you have this problem and have many old memories you like to insert here. Please write me an email, so I can help you keep your memories together.

Another request I received is an maildiary-app to read and write entries while one the run. To write an entry I like to use emails, because it's very convenient to take a picture and write some lines and send it via email. But to read my entries an app would be nice. Do you agree? Would you like to have an app or is this nothing you need?

When is your prefered time to write an entry?

Autosave in diary-form

One feature some of you requested is an auto-saving while writing a diary-entry to prevent data-loss. I work on this feature but need some time to test and implement it. I wonder how many of you would like to have this feature?

Create some values you want to take track of every day. Maybe your weight or if it's a diary for your child, it's size. You find it if you click on your name in the upper right. For every value you add you get an entry-line in your diary-form.

Reply-mail and date-issue

Some of you demanded that if you reply to an email which you received one or more days ago, you want your diary-entry be for the day you received the reminder mail, not for the current day when you send your text. This is now the default behavior. If you take an old mail from 10 days before and reply, your diary entry will be inserted for that day. You can change this, like I did, in your advanced settings, because I think it's more like a real diary if I make an entry for yesterday but with my thoughts of today in mind it's ok to set the current date. But that's just my opinion. Hope you like it.
